The Tennis Diary

Please note these dates carefully 

  • Sunday 14th March: Summer Ball Tickets go on sale: conatct Alice Parker on parkers.appleton@btinternet.com
  • Tuesday 23rd March: Renewal night  at the Three Horsehoes Oaksmere, Appleton. This is where the season kicks off with entries for coaching, matches..... .
  • Monday 3rd May: Start of season BBQ at the Plough; this is where the season REALLY kicks off... .

Saturday 26 June The Summer Ball

This will be our main fund raising event for the Pavilion and we hope to have a full turn out from members. A fantastic evening is being planned with fine dining and dancing in a wonderful setting. Members will have an opportunity to buy tickets before they go on general release – more detail will be revealed shortly. Swap your tennis whites for glamour - an evening not to be missed! Fees for 2010/11 Important – this communication goes out electronically and is on the village web site, the shop notice board and the tennis club notice board.

Fees for 2010/11  The Committee proposes that we freeze the fees for the coming year as: Adult: £52 under 18 £20 and family £110
Club sessions continue Ladies from 9.15 on Fridays and Mixed adults 10.00 to 12.00 noon on Saturdays
Boodles Tournament this is a Wimbledon warm up in the PG Wodehouse style setting of Stoke Poges country park. A group went last year and had a wonderful day out. If you are interested in coming this year please contact Alice on parkers.appleton @btinternet.com to express an interest. It will be on Friday June 18th, anticipated cost for ticket and transport around £50

Pavilion progress: We are busy filling out grant applications and making plans for fundraising. Note the Summer Ball – we hope to see all members there. .

Coaching – being arranged for juniors on Friday nights after Easter and for adults on Wednesday nights from 9 June(see email with this newsletter) . More detail with the renewal package. .

NB for the six weeks of the Wednesday night coaching, club night will be on Mondays – have Wednesdays always been impossible for you and Mondays better? Come along and join us.

Winter leagues are progressing well, with results so far: Men’s A team: played 8 won 3 lost 4 drew 1; Men’s B team: played 6 won 3 drawn 2 lost 1; and Ladies are in the triumphant position of played 5 won 5.
