Northmoor Lock
On Tuesday 30th March 2010 the Environment Agency announced a reprieve of one year! Contact the Weir Action Group and help shape what happens next.
Parking Restrictions &Traffic Management Update - March 2010 Jackson/Team Van Oord have been appointed by the Environment Agency as the contractor to replace Northmoor Weir over a period of two years during the summer months of April until October 2010 and 2011 .
Parking Restrictions
To enable access to the site for construction vehicles, a Temporary Traffic Order has been approved by Oxfordshire County Council to apply parking restrictions in Badswell Lane.
The Order will prohibit waiting and loading at all times from 1st April to 31st October 2010 and 2011 along the Northern side of Badswell Lane from Town Furlong to Eaton Road, and on the southern side between 0800hrs and 1700hrs Monday to Friday.
Negotiations are under way for alternative parking for residents who do not have off road parking. The Tennis Club in Badswell Lane has been identified as a possible location.
Traffic Management
We will endeavour to minimise and restrict the number of traffic movements to and from the construction site by establishing a traffic management plan; where possible we will arrange deliveries outside of the school run periods.
The traffic routes into the site have been identified as:
- from A420 turn onto Oakesmere Road and then into Appleton.
- from A420 turn onto A415, turn 1st right, continue along Netherton Road into Appleton.
15 mph speed restriction signs will be placed along the access routes for construction vehicles and suppliers who will be informed of the routes and delivery times.
Construction Traffic 2010 & 2011
Mid to late March - delivery of approx. 60 lorry loads of hardcore plus diggers to lay hardstanding. Delivery of 7 temporary offices and welfare cabins on low loaders.
Early April - delivery of piles and crane, approx. 7 articulated lorries.
