Annie Blake & ChildReach
Villager Annie Blake of Badswell Lane to climb Mount Kilimanjaro!
|
DEALINE FOR FUND RAISING = 22nd July! Annie's website appeal is www.virginmoneygiving.com/annieblake |
In the summer of 2010 Annie Blake (Mum Mary and Dad Mark) is planning to climb Mount Kilimanjaro together with fellow students of the University of Nottingham and will be raising funds for the charity ChildReach International. ChildReach works with communities in Tanzania helping to improve schools by providing larger rooms to accommodate children more comfortably and ensuring there is clean water available: they are also involved in building vocational training centres.
Annie commented: "This is going to be a tough challenge. My target is to raise £2,300 and I will be raising funds by a mixture of working part time, holding events such as the Jumble Sale in the Appleton Village Hall on 9th January 2010 and asking family and friends to sponsor me on my web page. The climb will be with about 40 university colleagues.
"Even the flights in and out of Africa will be "carbon neutral": the charity will plant trees in Tanzania to offset our travel. Before we start the climb we will spend we will visit some of the projects in Tanzania to observe how ChildReach makes such a difference. I appeal to everyone to help me raise funds!"

Jumble Sale on 9th January 2010 in Appleton Village Hall
| Annie Blake commented: "Saturday 9th January was a huge success and we raised £480 which was very unexpected, given the weather conditions, and we were so pleased! Thank you to all the helpers that so kindly gave their time to make the jumble sale possible, and to all of Appleton and Eaton for their generousity!" |
