Appleton Olympics
The Playground Group would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who made the Appleton Olympics a fantastic and fun day for all involved!
Thank you to everyone who came along and supported us on the day - the turn out was great (despite the chilly weather) and there was a brilliantly positive buzz to the whole day! An amazing £1,800 was raised.
A massive thank you to all our fabulous volunteers - from assembling trampolines wearing head torches at 7am to baking scones to entertaining us all with compere skills to manning stalls to loading van loads of gear at 8.30pm - you were all amazing and we could never have done it without you!
Thank you to those who generously contibuted supplies (Glebe Cottage Hog Roasts, Field Farm Fresh and Michael Caine Butchers) and to the following companies and individuals who kindly donated items to our silent auction:
Big Game Hunters, Frilford Heath Golf Course, Halfords, White Horse Leisure Centre, Snakes and Ladders, Louise Kirkpatrick, Fit2Run, Jeremy Keith, Andrew and Claire Bowen, Claire Maundrell, Angela Jackson, Ken Langford Saddlery, Stella Dixey, The Greyhound, Fallowfields Hotel, Head to Toe, Kelly Morgan, Marks and Spencer, The Nursery Shop, Behind Bars, Tesco, Mathew Queralt, Blenheim Palace, Sainsburys, Gulliver'sWorld, David Hine, Results Gym, Alison Jeffries, Ed Gilkes, Can Do Martial Arts Academy, Oxford Brookes Centre for Sport and Appleton Tennis Club.
Congratulations to our 2010 Appleton Olympics Champions - to the Church team who won Appleton Rounders Cup and The Plough tug-of-war team who won the Appleton-Eaton tug-of-war shield.
Congratulations also to the medal winners for It's a Knockout (Simon Daniels, Daniel Barratt), Welly Wanging (Lucas Dams, Josephine Berglund, Adam Holloway and Malcolm Bradbrook), Bike Challenge (Archie, Kieran and Amanda Ford), Indo Board Challenge (Lexi Tyack, Chloe Buck and Kaylan Yaki) and the Space Hopper Races (Daniel Barratt, Toby Ayres, Oliver and Milly Lay).
The day was an absolute success and just confirmed to us all what a fantastic community we live in - thank you everyone! We are planning to repeat the event next year so you can all defend your titles!
