Appleton Village Show 2010

 

 

This is held at the beginning of September each year. Members and non-members exhibit in about 80 classes, including horticultural, photographic, cookery, handicrafts, flower arranging and children’s classes. The date of this year’s show is Sunday 5th September 2010 so put the date in your diary and be sure not to miss it! The classes for the Show are below.

APPLETON SHOW 2010 - CLASSES

VEGETABLE AND FRUIT CLASSES

 

Class Number Description
1 Collection of vegetables, two specimens each of any four different vegetables, at least three from those in classes 3 to 22
2 Collection of vegetables, one specimen each of any four different vegetables, at least three from those in classes 3 to 22. Previous winners of the Novice Shield or Rowell Memorial Challenge Cup may not enter this class.
3 6 tomatoes, any colour or size, but excluding beef or cherry
4 10 cherry tomatoes, any colour
5 4 onions, each weighing 8 oz/225g or less, set or seed grown
6 4 onions, each weighing over 8 oz/225g, set or seed grown
7 9 shallots
8 4 courgettes, maximum length 6"/15cm each
9 Pair of marrows fit for the table, maximum length 12"/30cm
10 3 globe beetroot
11 3 carrots, stump-rooted
12 3 carrots, long
13 3 parsnips (note change to specification)
14 3 blanched leeks
15 3 pot leeks
16 A pair of peppers
17 A cucumber, any variety
18 6 runner beans
19 6 French beans
20 5 potatoes, white
21 5 potatoes, coloured

23 A trug of vegetables - Exhibitors will be provided on loan with a trug (approx 34cm x 26cm) which should contain minimum 5, maximum 8 varieties of vegetable See notes on Entry Page

ART and HANDICRAFT CLASSES

54 An item made with needle or needles (eg knitting, embroidery, sewing, crocket, tapestry)

 

FLORAL ART CLASSES

55 The Prettiest Things - a petite arrangement, no more than 10"/60cm in height, width or depth
56 Modern : ‘Understated Elegance’ (maximum width 24"/60cm) 
57 A Great Night Out - an arrangement depicting a musical show - title to be indicated (maximum width 24"/60cm)
58-60 An Arrangement for a country cottage (max width 18"/45cm)
  Class 58 - open to all exhibitors
 

Class 59 - open to all exhibitors who have not previously won either the Floral Art Trophy or the Mary Randall Rosebowl, but who may have won the Novice Cup.

  Class 60 - open to all exhibitors who have not won a floral art trophy at the Appleton Show (the winner of this class will be awarded the Novice Cup).

CHILDREN’S CLASSES

 

  Children’s classes are open to all children who are under 15 on 5th September 2010. Age will be taken into consideration by the judges. Because of this, all entries must be the sole work of the exhibitor, however young.

78 Display a seaside photograph you have taken (maximum 7" x 5"/ 18cm x 13cm
79 Make and decorate 3 cup cakes (age 5 and under decorate only - can be cakes bought or made by a parent)
80 Make a flower arrangement in a cup and saucer
