A Few Tips for all competitors:
  • Try to make vegetables like carrots and parsnips uniform rather than just enormous. Size matters, but it’s not everything.
  • The same applies to flowers. Where more than one bloom is required, try to match the sizes.
  • Read all specifications – if only one specimen of each flower is required, don’t put in more, and don’t put 10 oz onions in for 8 oz. Don’t exceed the space allowed, where this is stated.
  • Beetroot should ideally be tennis-ball size. Stump carrots shouldn’t be more than about 6", excluding tap root.
  • Cut and plunge all cut flowers in water well beforehand. Flowers are best cut early or late in the day.

DON’T FORGET THAT THE AUCTION OF PRODUCE WILL BE HELD IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE PRESENTATION OF THE TROPHIES AT 3.30 PM. TROPHIES WILL BE PRESENTED BY THE REV. LYN SAPWELL
