BBC Oxford Tuesday 16 March Radio and TV

On Tuesday 16th March 2010 the Weir Action Group had coverage on BBC Radio Oxford in the early morning news programme with Malcolm Boyden and BBC TV South in the evening at 6:30pm on television.

BBC Radio

Carol Bateman was extensively interviewed about the weir and Nick Withers was also quoted on the main BBC Oxford News. Great job by both Carol and Nick! Barry Russell, the spokesman for the Environemt Agency, claimed this work was necessary for "flooding reasons" - this is the first time this line has been taken and a clever PR approach. He also said all organisations and agencies had been "consulted". It has been said the first the Appleton with Eaton Parish Council knew of the issue was when traffic restrictions were about to be imposed.

BBC TV South

On BBC South Today news Carol Bateman and Nick Withers featured and gave a good synopsis of campaign targets.
