Besselsleigh Wood Group

This fine woodland, situated between Besselsleigh and Appleton is owned by Vale of White Horse District Council. The woods are a valuable and well used community resource, ably managed by Oxfordshire Woodland Group on behalf of the council.

Our volunteer group assists with management activities, such as tree pruning, tree planting, weeding around newly planted trees, keeping the bracken and Himalayan Balsam at bay, and helping to make the woods accessible, enjoyable and resillient, now and in the future.

Last year we created a new circular walk and are working with the woodland managers to improve some paths and access points.  We have a lot of fun and are always learning new things about the woodland ecology.
