St Laurence Church

For nearly a thousand years our beautiful church has been at the heart and soul of village life. Today it is the centre for a thriving Christian congregation. The message of Jesus Christ remains as fresh and relevant as when it was first heard two thousand years ago. Today at St. Lawrence’s that message is given in a stimulating way, with a particular relevance to families and young people.
The 10.30am services on a Sunday morning usually involve the congregation and there is an increasing emphasis on relating what goes on in church to village life. In contrast to the lively 10.30am services the 8.00am Holy Communion and the 6.00pm Evening Prayer are traditional. They retain the reverent beauty of the familiar words and music in which many people find peace and refreshment. But peace and refreshment are available to everyone because the Church is open everyday.
So if you want a bit quality time on your own or you just want a look round you are welcome to pop in. Our Priest is Lyn Sapwell – Reverend Lyn to most of the children in the village. She is available to anyone who wants to talk to her and especially if you are looking for guidance on your spiritual journey or at those times of crisis we all experience as well as life’s celebrations. So talk to her about weddings, baptisms and funerals.
Lyn can be contacted at The Rectory, Oaksmere or by phone 862458 or email lynsapwell@gofast.co.uk.
