Guidelines for Appleton Community Shop – Community Grants

1. The grants are only for not-for-profit organisations that are primarily focussed on the community of Appleton with Eaton.

2. The grants are for the provision of a specific good/goods or service/services. A grant will not be made if it is for the purpose of employing staff, paying wages or for the provision of general-purpose funds.

3. The ownership of any goods purchased will pass from Appleton Community Shop to the organisation they are purchased for.

4. Appleton Community Shop will not be responsible, if applicable, for any maintenance, upkeep or insurance associated with goods or a service provided via a grant.

5. An organisation can apply for a grant of up to £1 000. This can be for the partial cost of goods or a service or can cover more than one item.

6. For grants greater than £200 it is expected that the organisation will contribute a minimum of 10% of the funding required for the goods or service e.g for a service costing £300, Appleton Community Shop would provide up to £270 and the organisation a minimum of £30.

7. For any single goods or service costing greater than £500 the organisation will, where possible, obtain 3 quotes for the item.

8. The provision of a grant by Appleton Community Shop does not constitute any commitment to any further funding to the organisation by Appleton Community Shop.

9. Appleton Community Shop Management Committee overseen by two independent scrutineers will allocate the grants within the funding available. Appleton Community Shop do not guarantee that all applications will receive funding.

10. All grant applications should be made by the 21st Nov 2009.

11. All grants should be taken up by the 30th Apr 2010.
