****Spring Event

Appleton Country Market is one of over 400 separate local co-operative markets, members of Country Markets Ltd (CML) and selling the goods of more than 12,000 producers.

It provides a wide variety of high quality goods, mostly locally produced, at competitive prices, including meat, cheese, bread, eggs, vegetables, plants in season, cakes, savouries and preserves. In addition there are various craft stalls, including jewellery, pottery and other handicrafts. Coffee available at the Plough.

There are four Special Markets held on the second Sunday of January, May, October and December at the Village Hall each organised around a different theme.

We are always looking for new producers to join us.

If you can produce crafts, cakes, preserves, eggs, cheese, honey, vegetables, plants and would like to sell your produce you should become a member. Anyone, male or female and over 15 years old can be a member. In joining you become a shareholder of Oxfordshire Country Market Ltd. by buying one 5p share. You will also need to buy a handbook and, if you are a cooked food producer, you will need to obtain a Food Hygiene Certificate. Food Hygiene Courses are arranged regularly by Oxfordshire Country Markets Ltd.

Country Market just takes 10% of your sales without a minimum and, though helpers are always welcomed, you don’t need to be present at the point of sale and members benefit from the protection and support afforded by Country Markets Ltd (CML).

CML is a co-operative organisation, registered under the Industrial & Provident Societies Act, covering England, Wales and the Channel Islands. It is run by a democratically-elected voluntary Board of Directors. CML provides producers with advice, training and protection.
