Diamond jubilee celebrations: 2012

Saturday 2nd to Tuesday 5th June

(Note there is no bank holiday on Monday 11th, and half term starts on Saturday 2nd June)

Appleton, Eaton and Besselsleigh are jointly planning a weekend of events to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. We hope you will join in with some (or all!) of the celebrations.

Planned events

Saturday 2nd June: 

Exhibition of the 60 years' history of the three villages

Entertainment & fireworks at Appleton Manor - bring your own picnic

Sunday 3rd June     

Church Service

Quizzes & Treasure hunt trails along footpaths and woodland – linking the pubs!

Monday 4th June     

20 Over Cricket match at the sports field

Tea Party & entertainment at The Plough – bring a plate of food

The Plough – Live band in the evening to continue the party

Tuesday 5th June     

A day to relax and recover after a fun weekend

 

Do you have any interesting photos? Text? Clothing? Gadgets? Anything to show our history in the villages going back 60 years? Donations needed!

We are trying to fund entertainers, etc., so that the events can be free to attend: would you consider a donation or sponsorship towards these village events? We welcome all contributions – perhaps sponsor a stilt walker’s leg or a fireworks whizz bang! If everyone chipped in a few pounds we’d be nearly there. There will be a box in the Village shop for donations (cheques payable to: Appleton Event Fund) – or give cheques/cash/promises to Jo Golding below.

Spread the word – add your suggestions

Please spread the word of the upcoming events and put them in your diary. If you would like to organise anything extra over this weekend that would be great! But please let us know so we can add it to the calendar to avoid double-bookings!
