Appleton Farmers' Market

2010

5th July 2010 MAJOR CHANGES ARE PLANNED FOR APPLETON MARKET.  There will be no market in August and we hope to see all our loyal supporters back in September when we hope to rise, like the Phoenix, in a new, improved format. WATCH THIS SPACE!

The Appleton Community Market is the ‘umbrella’ organisation which hosts Appleton Farmer’s Market, Appleton Country Market and Appleton Community Shop, as well as several independent local traders.

The market is held the 2nd Sunday of every month in Appleton Village Hall, from 10.00am to 1.00pm.

It provides a wide variety of high quality goods, mostly locally produced, at competitive prices, including meat, cheese, bread, eggs, vegetables, plants in season, cakes, savouries and preserves. In addition there are various craft stalls, including jewellery, pottery and other handicrafts.

There is a coffee shop where you can sit and enjoy a cup of real coffee, cake, scones etc.

For More information Contact either: - John Page: Phone 01865 864808 or email jsbpage@tiscali.co.uk or, Robert Munro: Phone 01865 861791 or email robert@munro.me.uk

Appleton Country Market is one of over 400 separate local co-operative markets, members of Country Markets Ltd (CML) and selling the goods of more than 12,000 producers.

If you have a hobby or ability and would like to sell through Country Market, come and talk to us at the next Appleton Community Market. Country Market just takes 10% of your sales without a minimum and, though helpers are always welcomed, you don’t need to be present at the point of sale.

We are always looking for new producers to join us. If you can produce crafts, cakes, preserves, eggs, cheese, honey, vegetables, plants and would like to sell your produce you should become a member. Anyone, male or female and over 15 years old can be a member. In joining you become a shareholder of Oxfordshire Country Market Ltd. by buying one 5p share. You will also need to buy a handbook and, if you are a cooked food producer, you will need to obtain a Food Hygiene Certificate. Food Hygiene Courses are arranged regularly by Oxfordshire Country Markets Ltd.

Appleton Country Market functions within Appleton Farmers’ Market but is independent of it and our traders benefit from the protection and support afforded by Country Markets Ltd (CML).

CML is a co-operative organisation, registered under the Industrial & Provident Societies Act, covering England, Wales and the Channel Islands. It is run by a democratically-elected voluntary Board of Directors. CML provides producers with advice, training and protection.

Background

Appleton Farmers' Market started in May 2007 and celebrated it's first year of trading with a visit from the T.V. chef Sophie Grigson who kindly cut the birthday cake.
