8th February 2010: Vera Porter dies: It is with great sadness we report the passing away of Vera Porter, of Old England Lane, Eaton Road. Vera died in hospital early on Monday morning. She was a marvellous and very committed villager - a Parish Council Clerk, Parish Councillor and Chairman of the Parish Council. She will be solely missed. Our sympathies to her husband, Dennis, who has cared for her so wonderfully during her illness. Her funeral service will be held in St Laurence Church, Appleton at 3:00pm on Thusday 18th February.

7th February 2010: Peggy Ball dies: Mrs Peggy Ball, 92, who lived with her family in Shepherd’s Cottage, Eaton Road for several years, died from a severe stroke last Saturday. Peggy was President of the Appleton WI in the late 1960s/ early 1970s an active member of the church bazaar committee, with her handicraft skills often making toys, a parish councillor and a highly effective organiser. She founded the Appleton Evergreen Club in 1966. Her husband, Johnny, died some years ago and just after their move to Devon. Sympathies are extended to the family. 4th February 2010: Beware of the mud on the road: At the Thatched Tavern corner along the Eaton Road, Trenchwood Construction had, at mid-day, left much mud on the road and when approached had said it would not be until evening they would sprikle some water on the road! OCC Highways were phoned (Log 306280) and it was cleared by 1500hrs.
