6th March 2020: Eaton Roads Litter Pickers success! Penny Moorley reports: the Eaton Road Picking Gang....at least 16 adults and children started of 9am this morning and by 10.30 we had finished our task.....highly organised and working in 4 teams...and getting of for 40 sacks of rubbish (which included roughly 10 sacks of recycling, mainly Carling Export cans) plus tyres, wheels, lights, car batteries, etc etc So A BIG THANK YOU to The Gannons, the Parkers, Jess Adams, Charles Moorley (who acted as goffer all the time with his car and we could not have done so well without him), Clive Turner, Katie Ayres, Malcolm Bradbrook, Jane Jack, Roger Mitty and his Cornish companion, and an Eaton village escapee of tiling fame - amongst others.....it was so good having so many helpers and to get to meet up with 'new' villagers (only hope I can put a name to the faces now so apologies if I can't remember!). And the Vale did come up with some equipment for us so I was very grateful that we were supported after all especially with youngsters on a busy road stretch. The feeling was we should repeat the pick but that it should be on a designated weekend such as Cumnor has and involve the whole village too! But perhaps not next week!

Peter Monteith, from Digital UK, said the company had chosen not to worry viewers by warning them of the work in case there had been no disruption to their TV signal. He said if people really wanted to watch the missing channels they could either switch back to analogue television, which may be operating with a reduced signal, or watch shows online." Furthemore he said: “We are not going to say to people go out and spend £150 on a new aerial because the problem will be fixed by April and it will not be worth it."
