Club sessions, coaching
NEW! Session for Junior members
At the last committee meeting we were pleased to have a suggestion from a junior about another club session for junior members on Saturday mornings 9.00 – 10.00. This will take effect immediately.
Suggestions from club members about how we can improve will always be welcome so do let the committee know if you have any ideas.
The Thursday afternoon adult club session is gaining a following so if you are interested in friendly informal play and are free on Thursdays between 1.30 and 3.00 then do come along.
From w/c 7 June the evening club session will be on a Monday from 6.30 to allow the adult coaching to take place on Wednesdays. There is still one space in the 6.00 to 7.00 group so please contact Jane Bowen Morris on 862685 if you are interested.
The junior coaching on Fridays is going well with 35 children taking part.
JUNIOR FUN DAY
Sunday 11 July: This is always a great day and we are grateful to the Dicks and the Batstones for welcoming us onto their courts. Entry form is attached, so please complete and deliver to Adrian Willett at the Three Horseshoes Oaksmere by Sunday 4 July. The final will be at South Lawn where there will be a barbeque and swimming. We do need help from parents to run this very popular day so please indicate on the form whether you are available to help. ( Scoring, line calling, on the BBQ). Any profits from the day will go towards the Clubhouse fund.
LADIES NIGHT
Tuesday 29 June: Another very popular annual event where the only rule is no alcohol before the first set,no, make that before the first ball has been hit. It’s a fun social evening open to all ladies – new members especially welcome. Entry form attached, please email or deliver to Alison Jackson by 26 June on ALISONHM.JACKSON@TISCALI.CO.UK
Summer Ball
26 June: This is fast approaching, so book those haircuts, practice the dance steps, polish the shoes..... We’d welcome volunteers for two things: the weekend of 19/20 June to help set up furniture in the Barn, and the Thursday and Friday before (24/25 June) to help clean the Barn and arrange flowers. If you can help on the first weekend please contact David Helson on 862693 or for the second slot please contact Mary Carey on 864973.
And in amongst all the social events we are playing the Summer League matches, the club tournaments are progressing and some lucky members are looking forward to their day at Wimbledon – enjoy!
