Playground and Recreation Area
| 28th April 2011: Planning permission given! We got news yesterday that we have been granted full planning permission for our playground - very exciting! We should be able to start work soon once the last few bits of paper work are sorted, we will let everyone know as soon as there is anymore news. Thanks again to all who have helped and supported the project and enabled it to get this far! |
The new Appleton Playground and Recreation Area Group was formed in June 2009.
We are working to provide a safe and fun place for the young people of Appleton to play and meet their friends.
We are a group of very enthusiatic and energetic parents who all feel very passionately about this cause. Our aim is to work closely with all parts of our community so that together we can build a facility which will be of huge benefit to Appleton and Eaton.
In December 2009 the Parish Council voted to support us and in February 2010 we became an official sub committee of the Parish Council. So now it is full steam ahead to get Appleton it's Playground!
We now need to fundraise! If you would like to get involved in any way, have any ideas or would like to make a donation please e mail appletonplayground@googlemail.com
You can now keep track of what we have acheived so far, including the results of our Young Person's Questionnaire (click here) and what we plan to do next including fundraising events (click here).
In April we were awarded a £5000 grant from Sovereign Vale Housing Association, £1000 from Appleton Community Shop and in October we got the news that we would be receiving the full £47,000 grant from Playbuilder!! With the tough times ahead of us all we hope that the playground will be a great morale boost for the whole parish - giving the children somewhere free and healthy to play as well as a meeting place for everyone.
View an initial design by our lanscape architect and tell us what you think - remember this is your playground and this is your chance to put forward any ideas! appletonplayground@googlemail.com
