Village Cookbook
Festive food ideas and the perfect Christmas present - Appleton Village Cookbook
Wondering what recipes to cook at Christmas? How about Mince Pies with Almond and Orange Pastry? What about a tried and tested Festive Mulled Wine? Have you thought of Christmas Crumble as an alternative to Christmas pudding? Do you know the ingredients of a culinary White Christmas? All these appear in the Appleton Village Cookbook and it might be just what you're after for yourself or for a Christmas present.
For those of you who haven't yet come across it, the Appleton Village Cookbook is a compilation of favourite recipes from different village organisations, with a Foreword by our very own village baker William Black. The village shop and local producers contributed to a Locally-Sourced Produce section, while Appleton residents from other countries shared their recipes from Around the World; St Laurence Church has some great Festive Food; the Appleton Players contributed Recipes for Entertaining and the History Group gave some fascinating Historical Recipes. There are plenty more sections - turn to the colour photographs to see what catches your eye.
It also has information about the village organisations, illustrations and photographs by Appleton residents, recipes from The Plough, The Greyhound and The Eight Bells and a circular walk - good for walking off those extra calories at Christmas time!
The Appleton Village Cookbook is on sale at Appleton Community Shop at £8.50 - all profits to Appleton Village Pre-School. There are also gift-wrapped copies for sale at £8.75.
