Social Events Roundup
The Summer Ball: Generally reckoned to have been an unqualified success! All the tickets were sold, glamour and sophistication was the name of the day, black tie and beautiful dresses replaced tennis wear and trainers, the Barn was stunningly decorated, the setting was perfect, the dinner was sumptuous, the disco got everyone dancing, even the weather could not have been better. Many thanks are due to many people: The Dicks for letting us use the barn, Claire Daniels for the flowers, all those who helped clean the Barn and prepare in so many ways, the O’Byrnes for the tables and chairs, A and J Catering, The Big Disco, and to Mary Carey who masterminded the whole event. We made a profit of nearly £2700 which will be a big help towards the costs of the club house.
Ladies Fun Night: What can we say apart from that it was fun? All present enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and even played some tennis.
Junior Fun Day: 12 pairs played across two age ranges and after an enjoyable afternooon the results were:Senior group: Harold Batstone and Ben Harden, runners up Ashley Bulpitt and Tom Farrant.Middle group: Toby Ayres and Finn O’Shea, runners up Rochelle Eastgate and Claire Helson.Congratulations to all who played and thanks to the Batstones and Dicks for allowing us again to use their courts and gardens. Thanks also to the committee members, parents and others who helped on the day.
League results: The summer season is progressing well. Men’s A team have played 6, drew 1, won; Men’s B have played 6, won 6; Ladies have played 6 won 3 lost 3. All teams have one more match to play.
