01 Meeting 5th May

Weir now

At a meeting of the Weir Action Group (WAG) it was agreed to hold an Open Meeting for us to update the village on the current position. This meeting will take place at Appleton Village Hall on Wednesday 5 May between 7.30pm and 9pm.

Despite the start of the proposed work being postponed for a year we need to start working with the Environment Agency as soon as possible. WAG is suggesting that we focus on five main areas of discussion:

  • Health & Safety
  • Heritage
  • Site Access
  • Flooding and
  • Environment.

We are very keen for more people to join WAG to help us with our discussions with the EA, especially people with knowledge of Health & Safety practices, publicity & PR and, in particular, engineering design (we are hoping to offer cheaper alternatives to the perceived manual handling problems at the weir).
